BIT 7 August.

Howdy all,
It’s been quite busy since I wrote last time. I’ve been helping my dad replace
the roof on the house, fixing broken water pipes, and playing some gigs.
I also restarted a long delayed pet project of mine…to build my first guitar!!!
It’s been a real blessing to be in
Central America where
there are many types of exotic hard woods available. I’ve also learned A LOT
about buying wood. Sometimes the best way to learn a lesson is the "hard way"
J
For my first guitar, I’ll use Indian Rosewood back & sides and a Western
Red Cedar top. I’ve sort of been itching for a darker, richer toned nylon
string! It’ll utilize a completely unique top bracing system. It’s something
I’ve been designing on paper for quite a while. I hope it works and sounds the
way I believe it will!
J I’ll try and post some pictures
and specs as it progresses. I’m hoping to have it finished within a month, God
willing!
I’ve also been invited by Pablo Ortiz to give a master class at the National
University of Costa Rica (UNA) in Heredia, at 5:00pm Monday, Aug. 28th. Pablo
Ortiz is a very well known & respected master classical guitarist and is the
director of the music school at the National University of Costa Rica (UNA) in
Heredia. The master class will be a mini concert which I'll also give tips,
pointers and explanations of the techniques I use. It's primarily for his
students, but the public is welcome to sit in and enjoy. So, if you’re in
Costa Rica, and would like
to go, then please call Pablo Ortiz for directions and info. at: 382-0663.
So ‘til next
time…happy pickin’ & God bless.
